A.G.C. staged the "PETER WILSON" sponsored by Bhasin & Co on the
last Friday before Ramadan. Play started from 7:00-7:30am and finished
about 12:00, when the Tournament Prizes were presented followed by
Lunch.
Peter Wilson was a long time golfer in Kuwait, who died on
the golf course in Kuwait in the 1980s. As part of the Prize Presentations
Shivy Bhasin explained this and there followed a somewhat morbid discussion
on "How nice it would be to die on a Golf Course".
The Competition was played using the "Bogey" format in which like matchplay
every hole can be won,
lost or halved. Brian Macdonald won by 5 holes
from Cha Myong Ok, Jim Russell and Bary Hao. There were prizes too for
Long drive and Nearest the Pin, which went to H.S. Shim and Mohammed Ikram
respectively. Such a convincing performance by the winner, resulted in
an immediate handicap reduction from 20 to 17.
The full results of the
Competition and all the handicap alterations can be found on this website in
the Tournaments section.
